TASK F – Development of Social Vulnerability model

A common shortcoming of existing models for natural hazard related risk is the lack of socio-economic considerations. Indeed, in addition to the vulnerability of structures, as described in Task E, the inability extent of people, organizations, and societies to withstand adverse impacts from multiple stressors to which they are exposed constitutes a very important component that will dictate reconstruction needs, emergency shelter provisions, amongst others. The Algerian culture and society will therefore be analysed from an integrated risk perspective, by defining the social and demographic characteristics of the communities.
