The ITERATE Team has concluded the processing of census and questionnaire data to produce an estimate of the social vulnerability component for the city of Blida.
Social Vulnerability Assessment is a relatively new concept which attempts to evaluate the capacity of a community to cope and recover from a disaster by assessing the human component. Information from economic income, education level, density and infrastructure availability were considered and processed to evaluate the relative vulnerability of the different municipalities of Blida.
The methodology included information obtained from census information from the Algerian “Office National des Statistiques” and from a questionnaire that was made available online with the intention of obtaining a more direct and updated perception of vulnerability.
